IT'S BIGGS!

Ha! I couldn't say that both of us did, but if I'm talking about myself alone, I'd say... I definitely crashed someone's wedding I do not know personally. lololol

Mary asked me if I could go with her to a wedding she was invited to. Since I wasn't doing anything on that particular day and I rarely go out, I joined in. Problem is, I do not personally know the newlyweds. hahaha! The bride was Mary's subcontractor's PM and had few relatives who flew to Singapore to attend her wedding, so she had to invite more people-- be it her Filipino friends, colleagues and among others. Maybe I am categorized as the "stranger", or the "crasher" or let's just say the one belonging to the "others". She was by the way married to a Malaysian Muslim guy. It was a lovely wedding.

Wedding celebrations always makes me feel happier, as I see these two people love so much one another that they don't mind seriously committing to that milestone and legalizing the sense of sticking together for the rest of their lives.

Anyway, since this is technically a Muslim wedding, we are to be mindful of our attire.

I chose an old mint green top from Kamiseta with flowy sleeves that I had in a couple of years, tucked in my black maxi skirt from Bershka with high slit in front. But yeah, since the slit isn't wedding-appropriate, I just positioned the slit on the side of my legs so that when I walk, it doesn't reveal too much skin. (witty!) lol I initially wanted to wear a dress but I wanted to feel comfy at my most comfortable self at that time so I just had my body covered all the way down. (with the slit controlled. haha). Low wedge pumps were from Charles & Keith, something that I purchased and selected by Becca from our date, a few days before this. (blog post of that would be here)

Mary had her beautiful floral-print dress from Zalora and heels from Forever 21. Always looking sassy and fierce as she dubbed her look "your kontrabida for the day." hahaha

The Wedding

Soo... we came in at least an hour before the wedding reception ended. And we made it to the photobooth! :D

Coincidentally, the bride is also friends with Kristine, my ex-colleague and good friend, as well as the rest of the gang. Small world!

I did not cover much of the wedding since we were only there for a short time.

At that same time, Mary told me that her ex-flatmate texted her, saying if she wanted tickets for the Yayoi Kusama exhibit. Mary was having second thoughts because this wasn't in our plan but since we were already glammed and dressed up, I told her for us to go since that day was the last day of the exhibit. So we went to her friend's place and took the free pass.

...then I realized... next time if we plan to visit a museum after a wedding, make sure we would be bringing flats. ^_^

The museum visit on this attire was quite a regret and tiring. Don't get me wrong though, the art pieces were cool and fun. We just felt that we were overdressed ^_^

Yayoi Kusama: Life is the Heart of a Rainbow

The free pass turned out to be somewhat a special, VIP pass. We arrived at the National Gallery Singapore and proceeded.

I've been hearing Yayoi Kusama back in the day as she was famous for her polka dot patterns, but honestly speaking, I never get to really know the artist on a level that I know every bit of her life work. Still, it tickled my interest to know why she is known for these dots.

Yayoi became prominent with her motifs composing dots, her interest in pumpkins, even in the play of mirrors. It was said that her artworks are psychologic reflections of the effects from the atomic bomb of World War II.

This section showed more of her artwork consisting her favorite patterns called "infinity nets" that she was famous even as early as 1970's.

The second part of the exhibit's concept are made of mirrors. We were fortunate to know that we could enter the next room with our VIP pass.

Invisible Life. This explains that Yayoi still stuck with her concept of dots as round mirrors reflected as if there are dots all around.

In this room also carried the part where you could enter in another smaller room and be mesmerized with the play of mirrors, lights and felt like you're in a different dimension.

There were rooms that we managed to see like the Restricted Room. I also had taken pictures of some artworks that were not included on this post since I am having a feeling that it would drag too long to cover them all, so we proceeded with another room.

The last room is called Narcissus Garden, where it composed of hundreds of steel spheres on the floor. Again, her concept of dots, infinite objects are reflected here.

It was a tough decision to take a trip into these rooms with elevated shoes and pumps. Even though my shoes are not too high, I know that I shouldn't be stressing myself to walk longer with these as I have a little human in my tummy that adds a bit of weight in me, overall. But of course, the whole experience was fun in many ways.

I have to document this to remember the most important event thus far by one of my best buds ever. 

We insisted to help Emman to prepare for his engagement proposal to his girlfriend, Jannelli. Prior to that day, we bought the engagement ring last July and during that proposal week, we prepared what to bring, from the battery operated candles, rose petals, photo printer and among others. Jayne and the gang helped him order balloons and other decorative papers to setup the moment. Emman had his music on, gopro on and booked a two-night stay at Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa. 

We decorated the room filled with LED lights, petals, balloons to set the mood right :)

That day also marked their first year Anniversary as a couple and Emman was nervous at the thought that asking Jannel's hand might be too early that she would end up saying "no". Well, there is a possibility, but of course we need to equip him with the right support that everything's going to be alright. Despite that, the nervousness creeped in, and even us at the back of our heads were starting to feel that anxious opposite reply. STILL! We believe in the power of love! HAHAHA

Emman wanted that moment to be as private  as possible, and we decided to for him to handle it. He fetched Jannel at work, and we went straight home to anticipate the result.

And... of course, she said YES!

The next day, that's when we decided to celebrate all together!

Love is in the air, indeed! Few more steps and we'll welcome you both to the married life!

I could not remember when was the last time me and this long lost sister-in-crime of mine went out for a date. Still, I was glad that despite her very private and busy housewife life, she gave the both of us the chance to go out again just like the old times. I kind of 'forced' the queen to go out from the beehive and see me and yass, girl definitely did not disappoint. :)

Becca and I met about three weeks ago at Orchard. I was planning to check something cool at Sephora since I would like to try new products that are pregnancy-safe. Speaking of products, I bought a few products from Burt's Bees two months ago and I'd like to share my feedback on those in the next few blogs I'd be doing.

So going back, Becca suggested to have late lunch at Orchard Gateway's Dazzling Cafe, since she told me that they had this nice honey toast topped with iced cream and lots of yumminess. So, okay, go!

I might as well try and probably share my thoughts on it since they do not only serve tea break snacks, they also cater a la carte main courses which were good as well.

The interior was modern but at the same time lavish that it uses a lot of bright lights and cute chandeliers, mirrors and glass. It kind of reminds me of  Antoinette cafe because of the ambiance it gives. (Fun fact: I was also with Becca when I visited Antoinette for the first time, many years back because of the Bellabox Blogger's Event. Good times!)

Their black and white chairs were cute that it has bunny ears made to fit :) Color concepts of cotton candy pink and stripe patterns complimented nicely to the whole interior.

Becca and I decided to order three items from their menu. It was quite expected in a way that the price of the food would be higher than what we thought it would be, given how fancy the dining was. But since we were hungry and we felt that we would be staying at the cafe for hours (to chat and catch up, lol), we thought of ordering for both purpose.

Food verdict:

At first, I did not know if it was a good decision to eat all at one place since I know it would be better if we were to look for somewhere else. We were initially here for the honey toast, but I did not prepare that much for the main course. It's not that the food weren't nice, we both agreed and thought that we could've taken our lunch somewhere else cheaper and probably even better (read: rice. LOL) and proceed to take the toast here after.

But of course, place-wise, it was cozy that enabled us to talk and hangout for hours. That's more important. Catching up is more important! The last time I saw her was last April when I made my first house visit to their place after their supposedly housewarming. I wasn't able to go that time because I felt I was going to feel ill. (It was at that day I felt I was fertile, hence the rise of basal body temperature) ^_^

After this sesh, we went to another mall for me to check if I could check some products at Sephora which ended up not buying anything at all. LOL. I just then thought of buying a low-heeled wedge type shoes since I'd be attending a wedding that coming weekend.

Becca insisted on sending me home, which I gladly said yes. Albert just finished work just in time and met the both of us at the MRT station and all of us went home. She stayed for a while and we had another short chitchat before she took the last shuttle bus our condo was having to go back to the MRT station near us. And called it a day.

I thank you again, sis for spending a day with me! Hope to see you again before I go back home and before you go to US for your hubby's business trip. It was fun hanging out with you, as always. Truly my sissum by heart! God Bless you and your future plans in life. And I do hope when I come back, you would also have your little bundle of joy. XOXO

Even though it has been almost two weeks since their concert, the warm response is still roaming around social media of how awesome it was, that our local, Filipino musicians flew all the way here to make me and fellow kababayans happy.

It was last 27th August that we went to Requiem Rising Singapore-sponsored OPM concert featuring Terno Recordings' promising bands, mainly Up Dharma Down, or now known as UDD for short, with front acts: instrumental band AOUI, happy metal/rock band Giniling Festival and pop rock band Maude.

They held the show at Timbre+, an urban food hall slash gastropark that showcased a variety of restaurants at affordable price. We arrived there almost the exact time and was surprised that the queue outside was long.

While queuing, instrumental band AOUI is in the stage. Formed only last year, AOUI was actually a band formed from members of other Terno bands. I think their music was inspired by Japanese music. They were actually a cooler band than I was expecting them to be! 

I was looking forward to dinner after their set. Luckily, in this venue also I saw a stall that carries Filipino lechon that is in this resto called Iskina Cebu. Albert told me that he used to eat here since he used to work nearby. 

While we were eating, Giniling Festival was playing on the stage. It was such as shame that I did not get to take any photo of them since I was guarding our seats far from the stage while waiting for Albert who was in the line to order. Iskina Cebu's a blockbuster, I tell you.
