Hi everyone!

I just want to share what I've been up to, recently.

I was invited by my friend to attend the launch of the Limited Edition Archie's Girls for M.A.C last Friday, 1st of March at Sephora, ION Orchard. The event started at around 7:00pm and luckily, my late afternoon site meeting was just around the area. After my meeting, I dropped by first to the Remittance Centre to do some home errands and also went to other ATMs nearby (as another short errand) and then went straight to ION.

I've met my friend and her hubby, Rebecca around 7:30pm at the meeting spot and together we went to Sephora. Godwin (Rebecca's husband) was also off to do some money errands at that moment, plus, he isn't into such type of events (it's a cosmetic product launch, lol) so, wifey will just meet her somewhere after the event is over.

Oh yeah. I was once a Sephora Singapore "invisible" card member (invisible = earning points without having any card yet) prior to this event, yet the invite came for those who were currently "card members". To cut this story short, one card member is entitled to tag along one friend to attend this event. Rebecca asked me to come along and the rest was history.

I am just a one lucky kid. LOL.

While I was there, it so happened that my college friend, Michelle and Tara were there to see the products as well. What a cute coincidence! Both of them were members (again, what sets us apart was that I don't possess a card but I AM a member. lol) and were entitled to join in. The four of us were devouring the free drinks and light snacks (since none of us went there without having any dinner yet). Crazy but enjoyable moment, I say.

I have also received a small token from Archie, a small heart-shaped white tin box that contains candies. I have not taken any photo of that but will update it as soon as I do. :)

The COSMETICS proper: LIPSTICKS AND LIP GLOSSES

M.A.C has intended to release this collection by Spring 2013, and has comprised of two exclusive and luscious designs representing Betty (in bubbly, cutesy, light color palette) and Veronica (in a bit strong, seductive and deep hues) of Archie and Friends franchise.

At the event, Betty's lip collection gone sold out in a matter of... minutes? Couldn't blame the M.A.C fans if they've love Betty's colors than Veronica's since Betty's choices are usually the ones that are easy and comfortable to wear: it is not too strong and just right and wearable at any occasion.

Veronica's set, even the lip gloss, blush and eye palette are nice too but, for me, the shades are usually for ladies who are boosting with confidence and mostly those type that goes often to parties and huge gatherings. The colors, I must say, are loud, expressive and shimmery, perfect for club-goers, heavy make-up users and the like.

I actually tried the shimmery, transparent purple lipstick (3rd from the lippies on the photo above), mixed with a pink-ish M.A.C default set, and it turned out really nice, but a bit thick on my lips. Plus, if I wanted to achieve that combination, I need to mix in both lipsticks, like all the time. I can't wear the shimmer purple alone because my lips will going to be just dull.

I have tried Veronica's purple eyeliner. It was actually nice! It enhanced my eyes, most especially when I'm wearing my contacts.

OTHER ITEMS FROM THE COLLECTION

Of all the items presented, those makeup brushes are my least favorite. It was like the material isn't as strong and long lasting as those brushes from Coastal Scents or other well-known brands. The brush hair is rough, and I don't personally recommend this even if the packaging is nice.

OVERALL EVENT

I was actually expecting a bit more from the whole event itself, like they will make a small talk on the product and other added fun activities. Yes, there was a free makeover booth there, but usually the people who have come this event were most likely "prepared" their faces on, with accessories etc... Well, it was my first attendance on such product launch, so I am looking forward for more... if being invited to. :)

Emma Stone's not so easy A-ct.

I just had to watch this movie by accident. And by that, I was lucky and happy that I've get to see one of Emma Stone's cutest movies before her ever major breakthrough.

The general plot of Easy A centers around a teenage girl named Olive (Emma Stone), who became a victim of her own impulse lie. An instant popular in school, she made up a story to her bestfriend that she has lost her her virginity to a college guy. It so happened that the leader of the school's religious group, Marianne, accidentally heard this, and made the rumor to the whole campus and spread like mad. Olive has become the "talk of almost everyone" due to her "dirty, private activities". Because of the accusations and her somewhat impatience and disrespect, she had once made a verbal argument with a girl in class that sent her to the discipline's office.

After a mature talk with Mr. Griffith, her favorite teacher, as well as helping her gay friend build a fake facade of being manly and cool (to be accepted by the crowd, by pretending that both of them had sex at a party), She has then had this image of being the school's number 1 tramp. After she helped Brandon, (her gay friend), she has continued the "dirty act" with the stories of her sleeping with random boys, boys who usually don't have any success in courting or dating girls in exchange for money. Her reputation has increased; almost every student knows her as the modern-day reversed Hester Prynne (in the novel The Scarlet Letter) by stitching a red letter "A" on every top she wears...

The lie and the image she started has slowly made situations even complicated when she tries to cover up a major lie by saving the marriage of her favorite teacher and their school's guidance counselor, as little did Mr. Griffth know, his wife was having an affair to Marianne's boyfriend. The guy has acquired chlamydia, causing Olive to be the center of all the blame.

Tired of doing all the cover-ups and pretentions, she was saved reunited with her old crush named Todd from an incident and rekindle their sweet relationship. Todd knew that all the accusations on Olive were not true because on their earlier years, she has also helped Todd gets his "fake first kiss."

The story has progressed in the way that the lies has soon ended when her teacher knew the truth about the affair and has believed her, and she made a live webcast on all the work she has done to be known by the whole campus. Her bestfriend who has hated her for her acts (that were all lies) understood her and her apology. Olive ended up with Todd's support, (a blossoming love as well) and his eccentric family's encouragement.

Okay...

That summary was a long one.. :)

The story itself injected an important lesson to teach, which all of us must have felt we can relate, or we can hate. As a whole, the story was fun, interesting and cute at the same time. Emma Stone has this undeniable charm whenever she speaks, and you'll see that even before her The Amazing Spiderman break, she can be noted as one of the cutest, captivating actresses of this generation. Her smile really makes me go "fangirl mode" all of a sudden.

You must watch this movie. Even though it was shown last 2010, I'd definitely recommend you to see this movie with a bucket of nacho chips on your side. :)

Dearest Blogger,

Okay, I kind of failed and owe you an explanation.

I know you're going to ask me one question, "Where did your New Year's resolution go?"

Right.

I have said the whole story to almost every single person I talked with, yet I have not made any effort or chance to share you why.

So here it goes...

Last January, I've caught a viral infection on my throat and lungs that has successfully overpowered my immune system. I was actually diagnosed with Bronchitis, due to an inflamed respiratory tract. At first, I thought it was just a normal tonsillitis because my throat started to felt swollen the night before I needed to take a sick leave from work. The next day, I was still not feeling better and decided to take one more day to rest and drink lots of water. Lymph nodes started to grow almost around my neck.

I have forced myself to come to work on the third day, given the fact that after work hours, I have something to celebrate about (it's me and my fiance's 7th Anniversary). We had our dinner to a Japanese sukiyaki / shabu-shabu restaurant. Believe me or not, but I did thought that maybe, the only thing I needed was a bowl of hot soup and I'd feel better and normal in the next days to come... but it wasn't. After a few more days, I still got an on-and-off fever, dry, itchy cough and unfocused mind. I was supposed to work half day on one Saturday, that the doctor has even "begged" me not to, because it will just worsen my situation. I lost my appetite which was so frustrating, and there was a time of the meal that I even threw up because my entire body wasn't responding well with the medicine. Every food I take was bland except for chicken porridge.

I did tried my best to recover since the following day was our flight to Cambodia (BOOM! It was our long planned Post-Anniversary getaway). Silly and funny it may was, I managed to endure the body pain and dizziness (the meds are drowsy) when we were there. I program myself to be distracted from thinking that I'll be feeling feverish when nighttime comes, but... Ta-daa... I guess reality REALLY sucks. Hehe. >__<

I came back to Singapore after 3 days with a not-so-okay aura. My colleagues told me that it made my condition even way, way ridiculous. They were maybe right at that time --it has been more than a week since it started. I was very worried that I might got it from Siem Reap, as they say the common illness a person may get there was Malaria. I went back to my doctor and finally concluded that I was suffering from Bronchitis and gave me stronger medicines to take. But then, some more, I didn't believe at first that the on-and-off fever I was having was because of the viral infections because after the new medicines my doctor gave me, my skin has developed some rashes. I was injected with anti-histamine to cease the itchiness and redness as a preventive measure. Still, I was so worried as I immediately thought that it was one of the early signs of Dengue Fever.

Paranoid, I went to the hospital and had my blood tested. Thank God, it was a false alarm. I just had to do it because the next day would be another trip to Bali, Indonesia (another long-planned out-of-town trip for Albert's Birthday), and if an instance that I did have a Dengue, I'd totally send myself to the hospital and cancel all our plans. It was a really nerve-wracking and energy-draining experience! Before we sleep that night, my roommate (who is luckily a licensed nurse) told me that the skin allergy I got wasn't just a normal allergy, but measles.

What. the. hell.

Thanks to the internet, we have quickly researched for the possible reasons why I have acquired measles as a "side dish" while in the middle of "bronchitis" entree. It was a rather interesting fact because measles occur to a person who is diagnosed with bronchitis and thus became its "climax" or rather the "final stage" of the illness. Meaning, when you see the rashes coming out, it's the signal towards the end of your suffering. Surprise, Surprise!

True enough, my fever slowly went down, which made my breathing better than before. The rashes started from my forehead, down to my arms, to my tummy all the way down to my legs and knees for at about 3 to 5 days.

And all these were with me in the beach, in the mall, in the sightseeing spots, in Bali.

I was suffering with these stress for at about 2 weeks. I had a very surprising weight loss, (I used it to my advantage), but in contrary, I also lost my planned surprises for Albert's birthday.

In fact, he was the one who took care of me during those days of hell. In order for our two trips to happen, he ensured that I am drinking lots of water from time to time, and always monitor my temperature every hour. He was putting the wet cloth on my forehead for my fever to go down and sacrificed sleepless nights of a not-so-cool room like the usual. He only had one wish on his birthday and that was just for me to feel better. Love love... love him to bits.

It was all thanks to him, and to those people who prayed for my fast (but yeah, technically not-so-fast unfortunately) recovery... most especially to God. Thank you!

So, there you have it. If you want to lose weight, kill time and just in the mood to feel REAL WASTED, lose yourself with some ass-kickin' illness and it will also give you a plus point to ruin all your plans away. Just kidding.

I hope from this day onwards, I'd be more vocal in letting you what I feel. Whenever, wherever. :)

Part Two on 'fighting my dreams'. World Tour 1st.

Given that this is my first time to watch their concert, I couldn't really describe the most fitting word on how it felt in general, rather it did manifest what you basically see in their concert DVDs... Not only the special effects, moving LED screens, most-awaited dance routines and setlist, but also the roaring excitement of an almost a thousand count of audience.

I arrived at the venue six hours before the show started, and there were already a number of fans waiting outside for the sponsored shop to start selling the tour's merchandise. Since this was the last leg of the group's 1st World Tour, The Japanese Broadcasting company NHK will be featuring a documentary video of the group's tour outside Japan. At that time, the banner that was used to welcome the ladies at the airport (that Friday morning) appeared the next day, as some fans from Team Singapore were sketching a cartoon version of the girls beside their printed version.

Filipino fan, Ronn (Nocchu in Perfume City Forums) was asked to write the famous Perfume-introduction of the girls ("Kashiyuka desu! A-chan desu! Nocchi-desu!") in dialogue bubbles for the cartoon Perfume sketches :)

The NHK staff then asked us to write our messages to Perfume in different languages. While NHK is doing a clip of the people writing on the banner, I found myself writing in Filipino as well and gave them my support.

I wrote: (in purple marker), "Please come to the Philippines! We love Perfume!" (my mind was blank and shocked so I couldn't write any other sensible message. LOL)

Minutes later, another team from AMUSE (Perfume's management company) were doing an interview for the fans not only from Singapore but also from the neighboring countries as well.

We were then asked to represent Philippines by holding our flag printed in paper and asked questions like: Where did we find Perfume, What is their most popular song in the Philippines, Favorite member, Reasons why we like Perfume and our message to them... I never knew I'll be participating in such activities like this. But it was totally fun, at least. :)

After we bought some goodies, we went to this big container that came all the way to Japan for us to experience the works of Rhizomatiks in hologram style, the same team responsible for the awesome web design of the Perfume global website.

Inside, we found in front view angle of the things that you can see on the website, like the Hurly Burly dance, and the Global Website introduction dance. The only difference is that, we see actual dance routine of Perfume dancing rather than the triangles. Side note: They were wearing pink costumes on that dance. (READ: not allowed to take photos.)

We still got a couple of hours to spend by eating and checking other stuff around the venue. I met new friends, fellow fans from Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and even those Japanese fans who flew all the way to Singapore just to see the last leg.

I was tasked to distribute 50 pcs. of these fanmade pamphlet (see above photo) that we come up as a "surprise" after the encore. The drawing was made by Sakuya Ume. I know by this time, you've heard her name many times because she became an instant celebrity after the concert. :)

We went back to the shop around 5:00pm since it was the first call to queue up. I got the VIP tickets from 180 to 183 so I have to queue on this line. I finally got the chance to meet up some of the members from the Perfume City forums in just where I was standing. After that, I went up with my co-distributors of the pamphlet for another interview by NHK, and started to distribute them.

This is too much exposure already!

Before the show started, some of the fans were then called by NHK team again to pose to include in the documentary. It was an all-out support by Singapore and the neighboring countries who attended the concert!

We came inside the concert hall once the gate was open. Since the concert was an all-standing event, I felt that I needed to move some more in the middle, but then the people in that part were taller than me so I settled on the left side near to the stage.

I can clearly see the girls good enough on this side. Really, really the perfect view for me, I must say.

The concert started in a huge LED screen where they featured different versions of the global website dance. There were about more than 5 versions gathered and the last one was turning to a compilation of the versions presented until it ended with the trademark Perfume LTW LE-album cover pose, just like in the photo above. After that, the lights went off, smoke machines generated, and fans were shouting and hooting in excitement as the "heatbeat" sound starts to air, until the music of the global website started to play again --this time the real Perfume dancing in front of us. The routine was so addictive. No lyrics, just hardcore dancing, awesome pacing, everything!

After the heated up-starter, they immediately switched to the arrangement of the setlist.

The girls introduced themselves like the usual, and everyone in the audience shouted "Perfume Desu!", matching the trademark "peace sign" and applauded. They did utter English lines like "Perfume World Tour 1st, live in Singapore!" "Welcome to the Perfume World!" "Thank you so much for coming!" "Let's have fun!" and I really appreciated their efforts since they tried to communicate despite of the language barrier. Basically they were adjusting to the mood of the audience, as they thought no one would understand them in this country where English language is widely used but to their surprise, if not for majority, a good number of the audience can understand Nihonggo and I must say that a big portion of us were Japanese fans who flew all the way from Japan to watch the live concert. Perfume also greeted their fellow citizens who were watching in more than 60 theatres in Japan and 1 in Taiwan. All in all, we were not only just a thousand crowd, but counted as more than that.

The girls told us a funny experience on their last tour's photoshoot. Aa-chan was acting as the photographer and storyteller and it was here when they needed a help from one in the audience to become the translator. This is the part where NOCCHi has passed a spare microphone to Ume-chan and flawlessly interpret every single word they say in English (well, technically Singlish (Singaporean English)). The act ended with a huge applause and admiration to Ume-chan. Even the girls themselves praised her high intellect. :)

Afterwards, A-chan has split the audience into three teams. The right side of the crowd was NOCCHi's group, in which they called "MER". The left side then (where I belong) was Yuka-chan's group which they branded it as "RAI" ( or LI) and the people in the middle was Aa-chan's group called "ON". It's an audience called "MERLION" in general, pertaining to Singapore's famous trademark, the half-lion half fish mythical statue.

The lights went off, smoke came in, and the girls positioned in for the next song.

I really forced myself to forget the set list when it was leaked and revealed from the HK tour set, and surprisingly it worked because I was in total shocked after they made the costume change, and the intro of edge has started. I was in that complete jaw-dropped state. I continuously waved my hand when lasers were once again scattered like a madman. This edge version of the tour was made in such a way that it is convenient to their movement and equipment due to stage space constraints and I must say they REALLY PULLED IT OFF! It was a killer! The big LED screen (remember the photo where I show my distance to the stage) has split into 3 and also shows their life-sized bodies and huge faces (the same as in Disco! Disco! Disco! and Triangle Tour). The dance routine was also unexpected, since it is a bit different than in the one we watched on the Triangle Tour. Also, Spending All My Time was pure gold.

2nd MC

The girls had a small talk on what would they like to see their ideal man dressed up. If you've known this info for too long, you might have noticed some people from the crowd who were taking on big headphones, V-neck shirt, skinny jeans or black-framed eyeglasses. They pointed out some guys on the said individual traits and generously, smilingly applauded for them since they somehow or rather possess these "essential" must-haves.

The PTA corner was rather a special portion of the show wherein they sang like an advertisement of "how to brush your teeth" and "a survival dance", as well as a short version of "We Will Rock You." They said that even though they are an electropop group, they can "rock" sometimes. They made a call out of our then-group names respectively, (MER-LI-ON) before they do the song FAKE IT. Now I am totally convinced that, this song is very essential to every live performances since it got everybody stomping off their feet and created a heated-up stage presence from the girls. (READ: NOCCHi looked very fierce and captivating!)

The Chocolate Disco was both mix of the original and that of LTW's, so it was a new sight for me to follow their new dance steps (which involves pouring glasses and mixing in a bowl-type). They paused in for a while to tell that their last song would be Polyrhythm, and I can even tell that the girls (especially A-chan) looked unsatisfied of how short the time was because it was so much fun. A-chan was almost about to tear up while they were dancing, and I could say, at that moment that her feeling of gratitude towards us fans are beyond measurable.

They went off the stage after that, and all of us were still clapping our hands as we wait for the Encore. One from the audience has started to yell "Mou ikkai!" ("One more time!") until everybody followed. Not far too long, the girls came back to do their encore, but before that, they said their individual speeches. They were happy to have this opportunity to go and perform outside Japan and make their international fans happy. By now, there are a lot of fans who translated these words from Aa-chan as an excerpt from her speech:

"30,000 people watched the streaming.

The reason to decide the world tour is that a woman asked us to come to USA again and have a concert during our stay in LA when we were asked out to join Cars2 premier. And we were also surprised at the fact that some people knew us. We never imagined it.

"I truly appreciate Tokuma. The music company gave us a hand when we had a hard time and protected us from vicious responses which happened while we were becoming famous. We were thinking of overseas expansion a few years ago and after cars2 we were considering it more seriously. Tokuma does not have an overseas marketing network unfortunately, so they kindly suggested us it was time for Perfume to go out.

"When we arrived at Changi airport at 5 am, tens of fans waited for us. Even if waiting in such an early morning is a must for your business, it is very hard. To be frank, we were told not to accept any presents at the airport not to cause any trouble, but I felt so happy to see the fans and I received all the presents with great joy.

"This is the first tour so you can imagine second. I am satisfied with first tour but not fully satisfied. Next time, I want to come and have a concert in a bigger venue."

They did expressed their gratitude to Tokuma and to Universal Music for letting this big break for them to happen. A-chan was a bit in tears and has made the audience cheer for them until to their encore songs.

It was epicly epic! MY COLOR was not actually included in their original setlist but they pleaded the concert team to do one more song, since they felt like doing so (given that this is the last leg of their tour, to somehow make it special I assume).

Before the final encore, Doraemon made a special appearance and did an announcement that Perfume will be singing the theme song of Doraemon's movie called "Mirai no Museum" by March of next year.

Surprise surprise from the audience:

It looked like everything was over. The lights went off and looked like where we first started, and someone again from the audience made his way to begin singing Polyrhythm as our surprise song from Team Singapore. Just in the time we were singing the part of "pori-ruupu, ruupu... " A-chan turned her microphone on from the backstage and said "Thank you." Afterwards, all of them said "We love you, Singapore!" and made such a remarkable memory to date.

AFTER PARTY!

We went to an after party with fans who attended and agreed on it. We decide to held it at Newton Circus. There was a box full of Kirin Hyouketsu waiting for us to devour, and it was surprisingly nice! You'd never think that it is an alcoholic drink nor it even contains 3% of it! We yelled "Kampai!" for a successful concert by the girls and chat 'til midnight, shared our enthusiasm for the group.

In general, this girls really made me think that there are more wonderful things we can spend and share with the people we love. I was surprised that even Albert had a total change of views and admiration for the group. It was truly magical in some way because it did create some sense of teamwork that is truly inspiring. I can be honest when I say that I find it a bit discerning when majority of your friends teases you and often asks you if you UNDERSTAND every single word they say. Sometimes, you cannot just assume all of them will accept this unique interest you have (me, being that an aficionado of Japanese culture) wholeheartedly . They will even mock you for it. Whether you understand it or not isn't the main point here but rather, the thought of some people seemingly giving you a “weird stare” and constantly giving you this “discouraged” feeling of liking such an act is truly frustrating.

In the tour, I gained new friends, learned new things from them and it got me even more determined and inspired to study Nihonggo more than ever. I realized that it can be an asset for me to learn 2 or more languages (the other being Mandarin) and it's nice to converse with kind and wonderful people whom you've met and enjoy the same interest with them from time to time.

Truly, attending in this concert is such a eye-opener for me. If there will be a Second World Tour to happen, you'll have to expect for me to be there and rockin' my ass off with you. :)

I never hid the fact that I am a fan of the Japanese manga One Piece. Because of work, stress and other factors that made procrastination to reign and do senseless things, I started to watch and kept myself up-to-date for a loooong duration. Imagine, from the time I blogged about this, it took me 2-3 months to finish more than 500 anime episodes. Tiring, but it was worth it.

Anyway, we found this game related to the series called "One Piece: Pirate Warriors" (ワンピース海賊無双 Wan Pīsu Kaizoku Musō) last year, released by Namco Bandai Games and playable in Playstation 3. According to the most common and reliable source of all time, this game was made as they celebrated their 15-year anniversary to all the related franchise and to its creator or mangaka (comic artist), Oda Eiichiro.

Basically, the gameplay is patterned to the storyline of the One Piece manga, as Monkey D. Luffy, the main character who possesses a Devil-fruit ability is set on an adventure to find the legendary treasure of the late Pirate King called One Piece. I would not elaborate so much on the details of the story since it just comprises on almost everything from the very beginning, however, the overall concept is to defeat all the enemy pirates per each "arc" or stage. It was interesting because you have to "defeat" (or clear the stage) all the enemies by using the character's abilities and skills. In the Adventure Mode case, you can only use Luffy's character since he is the main protagonist and act as a one-person fighting style.

The game is developed similar to the game Dynasty Warriors, a strategic or tactical video game that enables the player to finish one stage by finishing off a part of enemy's territory in the map and free them all from being invaded. In every Arc, there's the "mini boss" pirate and the "boss" pirate wherein you need to defeat in order to clear the stage.

If you know the anime too well, the first major pirate that Luffy and his comrades at that time engaged with was Buggy the Clown, so naturally he is the first Stage to clear. One of the highlights towards the final stage of this first installement was when the Straw Hat Pirates encountered their unexpected "disbandment" from Shichibukai, Bartholomew Kuma that led them to various places and progressed in a way that you can only use Luffy's character until to the first half of the Grand Line story. (meaning, until Portgas D. Ace's death from Akainu, aka the Battle of Marineford Arc).

After you have completed the Adventure Mode, you can now use other One Piece characters as your playable characters with the limitation of all the Straw Hat Pirates, Boa Hancock, Jinbei and Whitebeard and Ace only.

My Assessment: I was happy to play this game --it made me feel that I was actually up close with doing the skills I see on the series. As a fan of the manga, I was excited to beat all the enemies and claim the victory. Imagine doing a 3D "Gomu Gomu no Rifle" to defeat all the Marines and enemy Pirates. It was cool and fun in a way. I've tried a multiplayer game with Albert to clear one stage from time to time too and it was indeed a great time to spend.

So far, as of December last year, the creators have announced that there would be a Sequel to be made, and comprises the missed arcs in the main storyline, and also to continue the half of the adventure as what the story is at present: the New World.

For those readers who knew One Piece and who also love this type of game, you'll definitely love this and would even anticipate for the next installments to be released. :)
